Sleep Quality and Circadian Rhythm</strong></h2><p data-start="765" data-end="989">Poor-quality sleep, sleep apnoea, inconsistent sleep patterns, and blue-light exposure at night can all interfere with the body’s natural rhythm. When sleep is disrupted, hormones, immunity, and energy regulation all suffer.</p><p data-start="991" data-end="1082"><strong data-start="991" data-end="1008">Common signs:</strong> waking unrefreshed, difficulty falling or staying asleep, restless sleep.</p><hr data-start="1084" data-end="1087" /><h2 data-start="1089" data-end="1120"><strong data-start="1092" data-end="1120">2. Nutrient Deficiencies</strong></h2><p data-start="1121" data-end="1266">Low levels of iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, magnesium, antioxidants, or electrolytes can significantly reduce energy production inside the cells.</p><p data-start="1268" data-end="1336">Even mild deficiencies can lead to fatigue, brain fog, and weakness.</p><hr data-start="1338" data-end="1341" /><h2 data-start="1343" data-end="1374"><strong data-start="1346" data-end="1374">3. Blood Sugar Imbalance</strong></h2><p data-start="1375" data-end="1445">Fluctuating blood sugar can trigger energy crashes throughout the day.</p><p data-start="1447" data-end="1593">When your glucose levels spike and drop repeatedly, your body works overtime to regulate the imbalance, leaving you feeling drained and irritable.</p><hr data-start="1595" data-end="1598" /><h2 data-start="1600" data-end="1641"><strong data-start="1603" data-end="1641">4. Thyroid and Hormone Dysfunction</strong></h2><p data-start="1642" data-end="1753">Underactive thyroid, adrenal dysregulation, or sex hormone imbalances can all contribute to persistent fatigue.</p><p data-start="1755" data-end="1893">These shifts are often subtle and may not show up clearly on basic screening tests, which is why deeper investigation is sometimes needed.</p><hr data-start="1895" data-end="1898" /><h2 data-start="1900" data-end="1930"><strong data-start="1903" data-end="1930">5. Chronic Inflammation</strong></h2><p data-start="1931" data-end="2090">Ongoing inflammation, even at low levels, forces the immune system into a continuous state of alert. This diverts energy away from your normal daily functions.</p><p data-start="2092" data-end="2194">Inflammation can stem from gut issues, infections, food sensitivities, stress, and lifestyle patterns.</p><hr data-start="2196" data-end="2199" /><h2 data-start="2201" data-end="2228"><strong data-start="2204" data-end="2228">6. Gut Health Issues</strong></h2><p data-start="2229" data-end="2403">Your gut influences energy more than most people realise. Poor digestion, imbalanced gut bacteria, or malabsorption can limit how well your body extracts nutrients from food.</p><hr data-start="2405" data-end="2408" /><h2 data-start="2410" data-end="2450"><strong data-start="2413" data-end="2450">7. Stress and Nervous System Load</strong></h2><p data-start="2451" data-end="2543">Long-term stress disrupts cortisol, impacts sleep, and exhausts the body’s natural reserves.</p><p data-start="2545" data-end="2638">This creates a cycle where stress leads to fatigue, which then makes stress harder to manage.</p><hr data-start="2640" data-end="2643" /><h2 data-start="2645" data-end="2672"><strong data-start="2648" data-end="2672">When to Seek Support</strong></h2><p data-start="2673" data-end="2804">If fatigue has been ongoing for more than a few months, or it is affecting your daily functioning, it’s worth taking a deeper look.</p><p data-start="2806" data-end="3015">Functional medicine works to identify what’s happening beneath the surface through:<br data-start="2889" data-end="2892" />• detailed history taking<br data-start="2917" data-end="2920" />• physical assessment<br data-start="2941" data-end="2944" />• blood work<br data-start="2956" data-end="2959" />• targeted testing<br data-start="2977" data-end="2980" />• personalised treatment planning</p><p data-start="3017" data-end="3205">Chronic fatigue is not something you should ignore. With the right assessment, many people begin to understand their bodies better — and move towards better energy, clarity, and wellbeing.</p> </div>

<p data-start="242" data-end="535">Chronic fatigue is more than being tired. It’s the kind of exhaustion that lingers even after rest, affects concentration, and makes day-to-day life feel heavier than it should. Many people go years without understanding why they feel this way, often being told it’s simply stress or overwork.</p><p data-start="537" data-end="713">Functional medicine approaches chronic fatigue differently. Instead of treating it as a stand-alone symptom, we look at the underlying factors that may be draining your energy.</p><hr data-start="715" data-end="718" /><h2 data-start="720" data-end="764"><strong data-start="723" data-end="764">1. Sleep Quality and Circadian Rhythm</strong></h2><p data-start="765" data-end="989">Poor-quality sleep, sleep apnoea, inconsistent sleep patterns, and blue-light exposure at night can all interfere with the body’s natural rhythm. When sleep is disrupted, hormones, immunity, and energy regulation all suffer.</p><p data-start="991" data-end="1082"><strong data-start="991" data-end="1008">Common signs:</strong> waking unrefreshed, difficulty falling or staying asleep, restless sleep.</p><hr data-start="1084" data-end="1087" /><h2 data-start="1089" data-end="1120"><strong data-start="1092" data-end="1120">2. Nutrient Deficiencies</strong></h2><p data-start="1121" data-end="1266">Low levels of iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, magnesium, antioxidants, or electrolytes can significantly reduce energy production inside the cells.</p><p data-start="1268" data-end="1336">Even mild deficiencies can lead to fatigue, brain fog, and weakness.</p><hr data-start="1338" data-end="1341" /><h2 data-start="1343" data-end="1374"><strong data-start="1346" data-end="1374">3. Blood Sugar Imbalance</strong></h2><p data-start="1375" data-end="1445">Fluctuating blood sugar can trigger energy crashes throughout the day.</p><p data-start="1447" data-end="1593">When your glucose levels spike and drop repeatedly, your body works overtime to regulate the imbalance, leaving you feeling drained and irritable.</p><hr data-start="1595" data-end="1598" /><h2 data-start="1600" data-end="1641"><strong data-start="1603" data-end="1641">4. Thyroid and Hormone Dysfunction</strong></h2><p data-start="1642" data-end="1753">Underactive thyroid, adrenal dysregulation, or sex hormone imbalances can all contribute to persistent fatigue.</p><p data-start="1755" data-end="1893">These shifts are often subtle and may not show up clearly on basic screening tests, which is why deeper investigation is sometimes needed.</p><hr data-start="1895" data-end="1898" /><h2 data-start="1900" data-end="1930"><strong data-start="1903" data-end="1930">5. Chronic Inflammation</strong></h2><p data-start="1931" data-end="2090">Ongoing inflammation, even at low levels, forces the immune system into a continuous state of alert. This diverts energy away from your normal daily functions.</p><p data-start="2092" data-end="2194">Inflammation can stem from gut issues, infections, food sensitivities, stress, and lifestyle patterns.</p><hr data-start="2196" data-end="2199" /><h2 data-start="2201" data-end="2228"><strong data-start="2204" data-end="2228">6. Gut Health Issues</strong></h2><p data-start="2229" data-end="2403">Your gut influences energy more than most people realise. Poor digestion, imbalanced gut bacteria, or malabsorption can limit how well your body extracts nutrients from food.</p><hr data-start="2405" data-end="2408" /><h2 data-start="2410" data-end="2450"><strong data-start="2413" data-end="2450">7. Stress and Nervous System Load</strong></h2><p data-start="2451" data-end="2543">Long-term stress disrupts cortisol, impacts sleep, and exhausts the body’s natural reserves.</p><p data-start="2545" data-end="2638">This creates a cycle where stress leads to fatigue, which then makes stress harder to manage.</p><hr data-start="2640" data-end="2643" /><h2 data-start="2645" data-end="2672"><strong data-start="2648" data-end="2672">When to Seek Support</strong></h2><p data-start="2673" data-end="2804">If fatigue has been ongoing for more than a few months, or it is affecting your daily functioning, it’s worth taking a deeper look.</p><p data-start="2806" data-end="3015">Functional medicine works to identify what’s happening beneath the surface through:<br data-start="2889" data-end="2892" />• detailed history taking<br data-start="2917" data-end="2920" />• physical assessment<br data-start="2941" data-end="2944" />• blood work<br data-start="2956" data-end="2959" />• targeted testing<br data-start="2977" data-end="2980" />• personalised treatment planning</p><p data-start="3017" data-end="3205">Chronic fatigue is not something you should ignore. With the right assessment, many people begin to understand their bodies better — and move towards better energy, clarity, and wellbeing.</p> </div>
